Cleistocactus
Cleistocactus: (Lem.) Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Slender stemmed sometimes hairy shrubs but some species are thicker and some do branch up from the base. Straight or slightly bent flowers are long and thin not opening widely. Flowers have many color combinations but red is the most dominent color. They are easy and usually fast growing.

C. baumanii: (Lem.)(T.) Form from N.W.Argentina. Also Paraguay, Uruguay. Many varieties and forms to this variable species. Most forms later decumbent or leaning. |
C. buchtienii: FR353 (Backbg.) Bolivia, Arque-Cochabamba. This is one without the many white hairs, flowers barely opening. |
C. candelilla: (Card.) Bolivia, Provence Florida, Pampa Grande, 1400m. Also a variable species with a wide range. |
C. chacoanus: FR 841 Bolivia, Chaco. Decumbent stems with large bright pink fruits. |
C. ferraria: Serra De La Cruz, Sierras De Zapla, Jujuy. |

C. jujuyensis: FR59 (Backbg.) Argentina, Jujuyensis. Thicker stems but also has smaller forms. Brown spines with some white hairs, the false C. strausii. higher elevations. |
C. laniceps: (K.Sch.)(Goss.) Bolivia, Cordillera of Tunari, 1300m. Possibly the tallest of the genus to 4 meters. |
C. ressinianus: (Card.) Bolivia, Provence Oropeza, Sucre-Tarabuco, 2700m. Possibly the most beautiful of the genus with its red spines. |

C. orthogonus: (Card.) Bolivia, dept Potosi, Chaqui-Betanzos, 2800m. |
C. paraguarensis: HU267 Cerro Acahay |
